Theatrical Productions
The following provides a summary of The Garnett Foundation’s
major theatrical productions:-
Twenty Years Hard Labour - by Amanda Osborne
A thought provoking play that puts Equality in Employment on trial, ideal for senior level conferences, HR events, diversity celebrations, award events and training conferences.
Equality in Employment stands accused of ‘disappointing those who have believed in you, those who have fought for you and all those you needed to serve’. The verdict is in the hands of the audience and creates a fantastic forum for debate and discussion as well as delivering some useful insights for professionals in the field of Diversity and Equality.
The piece was devised as the centre point of a celebratory evening for the Wainwright Trust.
The Challenge - by Lisa Evans.
Over the
last three years more than 18,000 people have attended events on diversity featuring The
Challenge. The play is a full scale, professional theatrical
performance. It is written as a training tool following extensive research
and is deliberately designed to be provocative. Some of the issues raised
include; race/ethnicity, bullying, disability, sexual orientation, stereotypes,
ageism and religion.
The Challenge was developed with support
from The South East England Development Agency.
Organisations involved in the research included,
local authorities, fire service, NHS, Royal Navy,
RAF, Ford Motor Company and many voluntary sector
organisations.
The Mast - by
Lisa Evans.
The Mast has been developed after extensive
research and discussions with Senior Leaders
in the private and public sectors and acts
as a catalyst to dramatically improve Leadership
Development Programmes.
This 45 minute production
challenges leaders to explore their own language
and behaviour and fine tune the way they interact
with others and inspire them to improve their
leadership performances. It demonstrates the
effects and consequences of negative leadership
patterns and portrays a model of inspired leadership
that motivates individuals with lasting effects.

Communication Chords -
by Amanda Osborne
A theatrical
piece developed with the Lincolnshire Area
Child Protection Committee to address and confront
sensitive issues within the Every
Child Matters agenda. The play addresses
the impact of positive and negative communication
with children and young people, with an emphasis
on diversity and difference.
The Leap - by
Lisa Evans
This
award-winning play, was researched and written
following collaboration with a partnership
of organisations led by The Royal London
Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This specially
written powerful theatrical production expresses
a number of messages relating to the sensitive
issues surrounding diversity such
as:- bullying, race, sexual orientation,
mental health and age.
This project won the PPMA (Public Sector People
Managers' Association, previously SOCPO) coveted
Gold level award for long term sustainable
improvement in the diversity performance of
an organisation.
The
Monarch, the Peacock and the Chequered Skipper -
by Amanda Osborne
A 30 minute theatrical piece written to examine
the impact bullying can
have on our working environment, how to tackle
inappropriate language and behaviour and how
to address bullying in all its forms. The play
helps provide a catalyst to effect change and
positive approaches to managing bullying within
the workplace.
Zip up your
Mouth - by Robin Hooper
Zip up your Mouth is
designed specifically to tackle diversity issues
within the housing sector supported by the
Housing Corporation. Developed following extensive
research, the play forms part of a project
which looked at supporting the housing sector
to deliver their statutory duties, whilst celebrating
diversity and was inspired by the recommendations
of the Race and Housing Inquiry. Over 3500
people have now experienced this stimulating
production.
Your Money or Your Life -
by Ali Adolph
A 30 minute theatrical
production written following in-depth research
which specifically addresses issues relating
to gender. The play presents a realistic
window into the challenges female staff face
within the workplace. Your
Money or Your Life provides a stimulating
platform for further discussions provoking
empathy and empowerment and leading to exploration
of solutions.
Fair weather -
by Ali Adolph
This
40 minute theatrical piece was commissioned
by APCOA and focuses on the experience of
Parking Attendants and their relationship
with the public.
It aims to improve
their interpersonal skills and find strategies
to handle extreme confrontation and abuse.
This project won the British Parking
Awards 2006 category for Innovation. It also won the 'Overall Winners award' and in the opinion of the judges the work represented
"the single most outstanding example of excellence in the UK parking industry."
Ham Omelette - by Daniel
Philpott
A specially written theatrical piece designed
to highlight the need for customer led products
and services. The play deliberately provokes
the emotions of those with the responsibility
for employing and developing people and illustrates
the themes of commercial awareness and communication. |
