The Garnett Foundation

Working across Education

We have worked across the Education sector for many years designing training programmes for staff, delivering curriculum elements for students, and bringing to life pieces of research and presenting the results.

Areas of our work include:

  • Leadership skills for heads and deputy heads
  • Affect organisational cultures by making diversity real
  • Values and behaviours
  • Building partnerships in the community
  • Transforming policy into practice
  • Unlocking talent and improving performance
  • Reporting research results with energy and vision

Equality and diversity is a priority area for colleges and universities, and training needs to ensure that leaders, managers, governors, staff and learners understand their roles and responsibilities in relation to equality and diversity.

The Association of CollegesAs a result of the revised common inspection framework for further education and skills, inspectors will be scrutinising the extent to which Colleges actively promote equality and diversity and tackle discrimination. The Association of Colleges is pleased to be working in conjunction with The Garnett Foundation to present a series of high impact development events.

'The Challenge' is an innovative, thought provoking and entertaining way of encouraging staff to discuss, debate and tackle discrimination issues both at work and in life. Working with the Garnett Foundation has been a very positive experience from their administrative support, excellent facilitation and talented actors I am delighted to include 'The Challenge' in our suite of diversity related training activity.

Martha Kember, University of Hull

The Garnett Foundation brought The Challenge to North East Lincolnshire and presented it to large audiences from local organisations. The impact of their thoroughly professional performance was best summed up by someone who said that he had enjoyed and learned more in that day than in any other staff training event in the past 20 years.

Peter Barnard, Registrar, Grimsby Institute

Treloar College found that using drama as a means of training delivery made a real impact on our staff and raised awareness of the issues surrounding diversity. As well as being a thoroughly enjoyable event it encouraged staff to share their thoughts and proved to be highly productive.

Kay Griffiths, HR Manager - Training and Development, Treloar College
