Respecting Others – Working Better

Working for Lincolnshire County Council should be fun, fulfilling and challenging – and how staff treat each other makes all the difference. To get the most out our working lives, and out of ourselves, we must enjoy what we do,  enjoy working with colleagues and feel valued.    This is key to the council’s success as an organisation and to the happiness of staff on a day to day basis.

Programme of events

To underpin the council’s values that everyone has a right to expect fair and respectful treatment, to be able to express their opinions and feelings, and to get help when needed, The Garnett Foundation developed a programme of events, featuring a bespoke high impact 30 minute play.

Bullying and harassmentThe events looked at issues around managing bullying and unacceptable behaviour in the workplace, and provided a catalyst to effect change helping to develop strategies to tackle inappropriate language and behaviour.

The play was an excellent way of dealing with a difficult topic. In a unique way, it raised awareness of behaviours which could be perceived as bullying, and brought these to life for the audience. In terms of content, it was well-researched, realistic, and recognisable. All in all, much food for thought, and an impetus for dealing with the topic back at the office.
